Joel Feller, a founding partner of Ross Feller Casey, LLP, was interviewed live on WITF's Radio Smart Talk program hours after former FBI Director Louis Freeh released his report on the failings of Penn State to deal with the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse allegations.

Feller, along with fellow founding partner Matt Casey, is part of a legal team that is representing multiple victims of Sandusky, including three who have testified at trial -- those identified as Victim 3, Victim 7 and Victim 10.

In the lengthy interview July 12, Feller told Scott LaMar, the host of the local National Public Radio program, that "at the highest level of Penn State, officials knew that Jerry Sandusky was a child predator" and they made "reprehensible decisions to conceal this abuse."

Rather than putting a stop to Sandusky in 1998, Feller said, Penn State officials "empowered him" and gave "him the tools and the means to continue this gross pattern of conduct."

They continued to allow him access to Penn State facilities and the football program. That, Feller said, provided "a grooming atmosphere for Jerry Sandusky to prey on these vulnerable young men."

Feller called the Freeh report  a "good starting point" but noted that the former FBI director didn't have the power to subpoena document and witnesses. Civil lawyers will, and Feller said he expects pending litigation to uncover much more than did Freeh.
