Leading personal injury law firm Ross Feller Casey has filed a lawsuit on behalf of an Alabama man alleging his use of the testosterone-containing drug Testim caused a stroke.

The lawsuit is the first to be brought in Philadelphia against a maker of a so-called "Low T" therapy drug, and one of only a very few such cases filed to date nationally.

In a prepared statement, Ross Feller Casey founding partners Robert Ross, Joel Feller and Matt Casey said: "The pharmaceutical industry created a condition called Low T as part of a multi-billion dollar marketing and sales campaign. There was sufficient medical evidence to reasonably know that these drugs would cause injuries."

The personal injury lawsuit was filed on March 12 on behalf of Robert Hoehl against the makers of Testim, Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and the drug's co-promoter, GlaxoSmithKline, LLC.

Now 64, Hoehl suffered a stroke in July 2012, about nine months after the Anniston, Alabama man began taking Testim.

The drug caused the stroke, was unreasonably dangerous and had inadequate warnings, the suit alleges. It also accuses the makers and promoters of Testim of using deceptive marketing techniques to portray low testosterone levels as an "epidemic" and a "syndrome" when in fact they are a normal part of male aging.

Ross Feller Casey has been contacted by many other men from across the nation who have also suffered serious health problems from testosterone replacement drugs. Those drugs include Testim, AndroGel, AndroDerm, Axiron and Fortesta. The firm expects to bring additional lawsuits soon.
