A New Jersey man who lost his leg in a construction accident will receive $6.6 million to settle a lawsuit against two contractors.
Steven Pascucci, 47, was working as a laborer during a demolition project of a stable at the Bergen Equestrian Center in 2009 when he fell from a ladder. He landed on a cement pad and shatter both legs.
Pascucci later suffered complications, underwent a series of surgeries and eventually lost his right leg to an above-the-knee amputation last year.
In his lawsuit, Pascucci alleged that the ladders were too unstable and dangerous and should not have been used during demolition.
The two contractors for the demolition project -- JG Drywall LLC and Triple B Fabricating Inc., both of New Jersey -- recently agreed to pay a combined $6.6 million to settle the case.
