Ross Feller Casey, LLP founding partner Matt Casey has filed a medical malpractice / wrongful death lawsuit in the high-profiled case of a young doctor from Northeastern Pennsylvania who died because of delays in diagnosing a clot in her brain.

The suit was filed on behalf of Peter and Patricia Sidari of West Pittston, Pa., the parents of Dr. Jennifer Sidari, who passed away at the age of 26, just two weeks after she received her medical degree.

Dr. Sidari went to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in May 2013 complaining of persistent headaches and bruising. But for two days, doctors there failed to perform basic tests, including head imaging, which would have revealed a blood clot in her brain, the suit against the hospital alleges.

If doctors had diagnosed and treated the clot earlier "it remained easily correctable and she would be alive and well today, fulfilling her dream of becoming a pediatrician," according to the suit filed in Luzerne County Court.

The suit drew front-page coverage in several Pennsylvania newspapers.
