Matt Casey, a founding partner of Ross Feller Casey, won an impressive $19.1 million verdict in May 2013 in a Philadelphia auto accident case.
The case involved plaintiff Patrick Hennessy who lost his leg as a result of an accident that occurred in 2009 while he was helping push his friend’s disabled car to the side of Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia.
The eight-figure verdict in the personal injury lawsuit drew wide media attention, including stories in The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Legal Intelligencer – read the stories below:
Since the verdict, Casey won two more key legal victories in the case, both in April 2014.
First, the trial judge upheld the verdict and increased the amount owed to $20.2 million, which includes interest. Then, a federal judge ruled that the bad-faith claim against the insurance company in the case should be remanded to Philadelphia Common Pleas Court.
