Pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has filed a multimillion dollar medical malpractice lawsuit against a Tampa, Florida spine center alleging that doctors there performed unnecessary surgeries that "severely damaged" his career.

Hogan filed the lawsuit under his real name, Terry Bollea, against Laser Spine Institute, LLC. The suit alleges that the damage cost him in excess of $50 million in lost income as a wrestler and entertainer.

In a statement, Hogan's lawyers alleged that he was the "victim of multiple unnecessary endoscopic surgical procedures that further destabilized his already existing injured back ... during the last chapter of an internationally successful athletic and entertainment career."

In the lawsuit, Hogan said he underwent multiple procedures at the Laser Spine Institute but only ever experienced temporary relief of his back pain. The suit also alleges that the institute advertised endoscopic procedures as a less-intrusive alternative to traditional surgery using "scare tactics" and failed to inform patients that its procedures "only temporarily treat symptoms and cannot treat and provide a long term solution."
