Results of a Birth Injury case involving Cerebral Palsy cracked Maryland's Top 10 Verdicts for 2010

Even though Nicole Player's son was born three months premature, doctors at the University of Maryland Medical Center waited 12 hours to deliver him after noticing his umbilical cord had dropped below his body.

Her attorneys argued that the delay and the hospital's negligence caused his cerebral palsy. And a Baltimore City jury agreed, awarding her son, Darryl, now 8, $4.1 million in November. A judge later denied the defendant's post-trial motions for a new trial.

The verdict, which included $1.1 million in non-economic damages, was reduced to $3.6 million under Maryland's cap.

Nonetheless, it still captured the spot of 10th highest verdict in the Old Line State for the year.

Attorneys of Ross Feller Casey, LLP has built a remarkable record of victories in Birth Injury related cases, amassing a long list of seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements.
