In all, Dr. Bowers, M.D., FACOG, FACS, brings 32 years of medical experience and expertise to the Philadelphia personal injury firm where his primary responsibility is to assist our attorneys in reviewing, analyzing and preparing medical negligence cases.
He comes to the firm after 12 years as the Chief of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. There, he managed nearly 50 physicians, nurses and assistants, while developing policies and protocols to ensure the highest levels of patient safety and quality.
Dr. Bowers graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and went on to serve as General Surgery resident at the university. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale New Haven Hospital.
His career in obstetrics and gynecology began at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, where he was a department instructor. He was later promoted to Medical Director of Ambulatory Care. He spent the next seven years at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he attained positions of increasing levels of responsibility, culminating as Medical Director of Ambulatory Care and Residency Program Coordinator.
In 1989, Dr. Bowers opened a private practice in West Orange, N.J., which he maintained over the next 16 years. During that time, he served concurrently as Chief of the OB/GYN Department for United Healthcare System, Chairman of the OB/GYN Department at The Hospital Center at Orange, and an Attending at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J.
Dr. Bowers has lectured extensively throughout his career, receiving numerous awards for his teaching, particularly in resident education. He has also published numerous articles, broadly focusing on women’s health issues and more specifically, in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology.
