A doctor in Northeastern Pennsylvania has been ordered pay more than a half million dollars for botching a cicumcision on a newborn.
After a five-day trial, a Luzerne County jury found that Dr. Govindbhai Kachhadiya was negligent in taking too much skin off of the penis of Shirlee Miller's son three days after he was born. The botched circumcision, performed in 2009, resulted in disfigurement and deformity of the boy's penis, the jury found.
The jury awarding $100,000 to Miller for future medical expenses and $440,000 in pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, embarrassment and disfigurement.
