The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission this week announced a series of recalls totaling more than 1 million swimming pool and in-ground spa drain covers that were incorrectly rated to handle water flow.

Manufactured by 11 different makers, the covers could pose an entrapment hazard to swimmers and bathers, the agency said. Consumers should stop using the products immediately. Anyone with one of the recalled drain covers should immediately contact the manufacturer to get a replacement or retrofit, depending on the make and model.

The companies are A&A Manufacturing, Phoenix, Ariz.; AquaStar Pool Products Inc., San Diego, Calif. ; Color Match Pool Fittings, Surprise, Ariz.; Custom Molded Products, Tyrone, Ga.; Hayward Pool Products, Elizabeth, N.J.; Pentair Water Pool and Spa, Sanford, N.C.; Rising Dragon USA, East Sweetwater, Tenn.; and Waterway Plastics, Oxnard, Calif.; Waterway Plastics, of Oxnard, Calif.; Paramount Pool & Spa Systems, of Chandler, Ariz.; and Lawson Aquatics, of Naples, Fla.
