A Luzerne County judge has ruled that the Chief Executive Officer of Geisinger Health System must testify in the upcoming medical malpractice / wrongful death trial of Dr. Jennifer Sidari.

The ruling is a victory on the heels of the trial for the Sidari family, which is suing Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center alleging that doctors there failed to diagnose and treat a blood clot in Sidari’s head that caused her death in 2013.

Judge Lesa Gelb sided with Matt Casey, the Sidari family attorney and founding partner of Ross Feller Casey, in ruling that Dr. David T. Feinberg, president and chief executive officer of Geisinger Health System, must testify at trial, which begins Monday.

Feinberg started his career as a pediatrician. Sidari, 26, was about to begin her pediatric residency at the time of her death. The similarity could be used by a jury in determining Sidari’s potential future earning capacity as it calculates damages.

The Wilkes-Barre Citizens' Voice newspaper reported on the ruling.
